Teaching ESL has much in common with any other teaching, but also has its own unique challenges. It needs some understanding of how language works. Maybe for me, what makes me unique is that I'm patient, I'm also good in making gesture and facial expressions. Those are needed to support the weaker linguistic understanding of the learner. I guess being an online teacher for almost 3 years give's me more confidence and i'm more familiar with my students when it comes to their culture's and tradition's.
My major in college was Bachelor of Science in office Administration. I'm very good in doing business letters and very fast in typing. Before, I was working as a receptionist, sales assistant and call center agent. Right now I'm a mother of 2 kids. I'm really proud that i had those working experiences and most of all I'm proud to be a part time teacher and at the same time a home maker.
For teaching techniques you need to be highly interactive. Too much talk by the teacher is fatal; you cannot teach language-using skills either by lecturing. You must set up situations for students to actually use the language, this means introducing some vocabulary or grammatical structures on the board or in a listening or reading exercise. As for my interest I love watching hollywood movies, listening to classic love song and surfing the internet. Most of the time I'm just at home with my family but sometimes I also go out with friends.
